The 2 Element Cubex Quad Feed Point Transformer - Balun. 10 years old.

2O19. Nov. 14th.

Today, I happily received this email from Mario, CE6TK.

Regards Robert

My name is Mario CE6TK from Chile, South America.

I respectfully want to ask you some questions about a cubic box antenna that you installed in your QTH, since they gave me a similar antenna.

Do you have the measurements of the 2 frames for the 20, 15 and 10 meter bands?

What is the seperacion in the boom between the elements ???

The balun used is 2: 1 ???

Thank you very much for your reply.

Receive greetings from Chile

Sincerely

Unfortunately, I dont know some of the answers to these questions, as we erected the Cubex Quad antenna 10 years ago.

Some of the copper wires have now broken after that length of time of being in the air, as the winds here can be ferocious.

I am currently about to take it off of the tower and replace the wires with galvanized fencing wire hoping that they will last a long time.

I can hear you say that it is a bad idea, but I'm becoming too old to be taking the Quad down and putting it up again.

Anyway, the point here being that when I originally bought the Cubex Quad kit, 10 years ago, I also bought a spare feedpoint balun, the details of which are shown below. Hopefully, it will help you Mario, and anyone else who is considering building this antenna. Please remember that the balun shown is 10 years old, so the current version is probably a little different. I think the elements are spaced 8 or possibly 10 feet apart. Sorry I can't be more accurate.
